Faytelina JoLE

So apparently Grace Academy was having a fundraiser to help starving orphans in Nigeria and we didn't hear anything official about it. Fayte would come home and tell us how "babies are starving in Nigeria and we need monies to help them!" We shrugged it off while she collected coins from around the house and saved them in her backpack. We figured we'd receive a letter from school about it.

Well, recently we received a letter only that it said thanks for our help and that the school was able to feed thousands of kids with all of the money they raised. Fayte even received this piece of art made by one of the kids in Nigeria!

We had no idea how much she brought in and were hoping it was more than just the pocket change she had found around the house. That would've been embarrassing. Then while cleaning her room, we noticed that her piggy bank was empty and inside it used to be a good amount of change and even a $50 bill! Well, at least it went to a good cause.

TWISTED ROOT

Met up with Mimi and PaPa today for some excellent burgers, fried roots and homemade root beers at Twisted Root in Dallas's historic Deep Ellum district. We saw some new art on the wall next to all of the fake celeb autographs and mildly offensive bumperstickers. Apparently this "autograph" is real and was done when Guy Fieri featured the place on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Twisted Root is definitely a dive. If you've been, you know that they call you up when your order's ready by an assigned celeb alias (we were Cartman). Guy Fieri has now been added to the list.

Great for burgers, fried roots (potatoes...sweet potatoes...green beans....onions...etc), HOMEMADE root beers and Guy Fieri sightings.
